Measurements: 2.6 x 4.7 inches, or 66 x 120 mm.
Back of card: A departure from Lo Scarabeo custom. Printed brown on white, it has a border similar to that shown on the front. Inside, what looks like two panels of intricate knots, but look closer & you find birds. To me, Celtic in design. Strikingly similar to Persian caligraphy.
Booklet included: Yes, 64 pages, 2.63 x 4.73 inches, or 67 x 120 mm. In English, Italian, German, French, Spanish.
Publisher: Lo Scarabeo. Printed in Italy.
Comments: To me, the deck is ruined by being in the Lo Scarabeo "house style", as I have seen it on several other decks. The minor arcana is conventional. Of the major arcana, one through ten represent Irish gods. Cards 11 & 12 concern the heroic cycle of Ulster. Cards 13 & 14 relate to kings of Ireland. Cards 15, 16, 17 & 18 recall deeds of the Fianna. Cards 19 & 20 show a Christianized Celtic world. Card 0 is Fintan mac Bochra, the first Druid, a poet.
Suits: Chalices/goblets are made of olive wood & relate to the Christian Holy Grail. Pentacles/Anguinums are talismans in the shape of wrinkled eggs, formed by snake secretions. Wands are mistletoe. Swords derive from Excalibur.
Aside from three small naked fairies on Major Arcana 5 card, the Queen of Wands is the only other nude in the deck, for those of you looking for decks without nudity.
