Howard Beckman (aka Hamsavatar das) describes himself as an American, born & raised in Philadelphia. He attended Temple University, where he studied Philosophy & Religion. Travelling often to India, he was drawn to the Vedas, in particular astrology & mysticism, eventually meeting his spiritual master, who trained him in Bhakti-yoga (the yoga of love). He spent a further five years in Thailand, studying the science of gems & their healing powers. Returning to the US, he obtained a degree as a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. Currently, he lives outside Santa Fe, NM, where he teaches, writes & lectures.
