Measurements: 2.5 x 3.5 inches, or 63 x 88 mm. Small. The scan above is life size. Reduced shipping charges may apply.
Back of card: Solid violet field with white borders. Shown in the field, a rather corny, rather stylized silhouette of a slender young witch in long dress & peaked hat tending her cauldron. A cat sits behind her, a full moon rises overhead. Not for inversion.
Booklet included: Yes, a folded piece of paper with 8 panes, four on each side.
Publisher: United States Playing Card Company, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Comments: These cards are said to be another variation of the Mme. Lenormand cards, though those familiar with the other (currently out of print) deck will probably not recognize these. However, as with the other Lenormand deck, the 2 of Hearts (card no. 19) represents a male querent, the 2 of Diamonds (card no. 18) represents a female querent. According to the instructions, these two cards have no other value.
In any number of card games, the Queen of Spades is a bad card, so we have included it among the four cards in the illustration. The text on the card reads: Amor [sic] is a sign that someone is looking at you with great love & longing.
There is a numbering system to the cards. No. 1 is the 3 of Hearts, no. 2 is the 5 of Hearts, no. 3 is the 6 of Hearts, no. 4 is the 4 of Clubs, no. 5 is the 3 of Clubs, no. 6 is the 5 of Spades, no. 52 is the Jack of Spades. I didn't see a pattern to this.
As is so often the case, these cards are highly prized by certain readers.
