Comments: A softly beautiful feminine deck, though how you can shuffle a deck this wide is beyond me. I have large hands, this deck is big. But aside from that.

The major arkana cards all feature female deities, their names are given on the bottom of the card. The artist has freely reinterpreted the traditional 22 cards, the result is pleasing.

Also pleasing are the minor arkana, even though many are based on Rider Waite. All the men are feminine in nature, which does not de-sex them. Let me explain:

Men who have never been to war, who have never fought, who have never engaged in violence, men who have the love of a woman with them, have the most beautiful, sensitive features. Yet they are still masculine in all important respects. For real life examples, Paul Newman comes to mind. Women complain that men are crude and coarse and brutal, but society does it to us, generation after generation. Between the ages of 12 and 20, a time when the boy/man can only follow the path laid in front of him. And that path is frequently filled with adolescent rage and military service, with the resultant horrifying brutality.

While I applaud what feminism has done for women, I'm not impressed by what it wants to do to men. Yet this deck reminds me there is a New Male out there somewhere. Just as women had to discover themselves through feminism, it is for men to rediscover themselves through their innate masculinity. Since women have opted out of the previous male-dominated social contract, harmony will not be reestablished until men redefine themselves, as men, in male terms. The result will not only surprise women (pleasantly, we hope), it will surprise men as well.
